It's a unique feeling, seeing someone doing exactly what you're trying to do, but better. Is it mortification and shame? A sense of loss? Or is it inspiration, a desire to join in?
It's all of them, all at once.
This week, I discovered Huntr.co. And it's an excellent product. It's a polished, feature-rich platform that helps job seekers organize their search, optimize their resumes, and get past the automated gatekeepers. In many ways, it's a more mature version of the "organizer" features I've built into Transparent Talent AI.
My first reaction was that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. But as I dug deeper, that feeling was replaced by something else: clarity.
Seeing a great competitor doesn't invalidate your work; it validates your market. It proves that the problem you're solving is real and that people are willing to pay for a solution. But it also forces you to answer the most important question: "What makes you different?"
Huntr is a fantastic tool for winning the game as it's played today. It helps you become more legible to the algorithms.
But we started Transparent Talent AI because we believe the game itself is the problem.
Our mission isn't just to help you get past the machine; it's to help you understand the entire playing field. Our goal isn't just optimization; it's strategic clarity. The Transparent Relevance Scorecard isn't designed to just match keywords; it's designed to explain why a role is or isn't a true fit for you, based on a deep, multi-factor analysis of your unique skills and the company's unique context.
So, am I doing everything necessary to put our platform at the front of this transition? I wrestle with this question every day. Seeing a great competitor makes that wrestle very real. But it also sharpens the mission. We're not just building another job tracker. We're building a new way to see.
To the team at Huntr, thank you for building a great product and for the dose of inspiration. And to our users, thank you for betting on our vision. The fight for a more transparent market is worth having.
